The Red Book with Satya & Carol - 30 Videos
$0.00

Purchase of this free series will provide you with a private website and password from which to stream all 30 videos.

In each episode, Director of The Salome Institute, Satya Doyle Byock & Astrologer Carol Ferris, explore Carl Jung’s magnum opus, The Red Book.

Satya & Carol discuss Jung’s vast work chapter-by-chapter while reflecting on themes ranging from Jungian psychology and the history of depth psychology, the astrological relationship between Jung's time and ours, to the feminist, anti-racist, and anti-fascist relevance of this work today.

C.G. Jung’s journey into the unconscious began in 1913, just months before the sudden beginning of WWI. It was this descent, laboriously documented in a large red leather book, that underlies all of Analytical Psychology, also known as Jungian Psychology.

You do not need to be steeped in Jungian Psychology nor in astrology to enjoy these episodes.

Satya & Carol make this work socially and personally relevant for people of all backgrounds, even those with little experience with this material.

These salons were originally recorded live and began March 2020, at the start of a global pandemic, and concluded in November just before the 2020 US election. The audio from these salons were eventually turned into The Salome Podcast, available on Apple Podcast or a podcast app of your choice!

"Being Black in the Jungian World" - Two Videos
$44.00

These live salons were held in June/July 2020.

In this two-part salon, mythologist Kwame Scruggs discusses being black in the Jungian world with Salome founder and director Satya Doyle Byock.

Part 1 — June 27th, The Shadow: Owning One’s Shadow Vs. Detoxing from the Projected Shadow

Kwame shared personal experiences of his journey from a childhood in Akron, OH to a degree in Mythology and a board position on the Joseph Campbell Foundation. He shared many personal experiences often being the only Black person in a room of white students, professors, and colleagues. Part 1 focuses on The Shadow within Jung's psychology, and the experience of projective identification for a Black person receiving the constant shadow projections of white people.

Part 2 — July 4th, The Persona: Wholeness vs. “Double Consciousness”

We began this salon with Dr. Melvin Allen reading Frederick Douglass's words on the meaning of American Independence for Black Americans. In the salon, Kwame shared his experiences on learning "the mask", the persona in Jung's psychology, and how the knowledge of the Persona is inherent for Black Americans in a way that is foreign to white people. Q&A provided tremendous insights with sharing from community members.
